The importance of hydration to fuel your weight management goals.

Thank you Dr. Plant School of Nutrition for this info!!!

The importance of hydration to fuel your weight management goals.

Water and electrolytes are critical to fueling your weight management goals.

The biochemical process of burning fat is called lipolysis, which literally means fat destroying. This process is mediated by hormones such as epinephrine, ghrelin, cortisol, and several others. However, once the process is initiated by hormone signaling it is also a very water demanding reaction. In fact the burning of a single fat molecule requires numerous water molecules for the hydrolysis of the fat.

So, if our body is in a fat burning state but is limited on its water supply your body will cease to burn the fat.

Be sure to hydrate frequently to not only fuel the fat burning reactions in your body, but to also help you battle those unwarranted hunger cravings throughout the day.

What to drink: Water and low calorie drinks (under 30 calories) that are enriched in nutrients and/or electrolytes.
