Give Your Body the Nutrition it Needs

The Body is amazing!  Given the right tools, it can heal itself in most cases!  The more and more info I see and read about Moringa Oleifera,  it is truly an amazing super-food!  It can actually help the body to heal itself in many ways.  Do something good for your body, eat plenty of dark, leafy greens…. make sure to hydrate!  Water is so important to your system. Also… get off the couch and get some exercise!  Even if it is just walking around your neighborhood.  And, add Moringa Oleifera to your daily routine…why wouldn’t you?!  Do your own research.  This is a great article on Moringa!!

For many centuries Moringa Oleifera was used in traditional medicine, such as the “Ayurveda”, as a treatment Arthritis and Gout. It was believed that Moringa Leaf Powder reduce inflammations and pain caused by these conditions.

In 2008 the Faculty of Medicine Health Sciences of the Putra University in Malaysia, published a research aimed to test if Moringa poses any Antinociceptive and Anti-Inflammatory activities, the same activities achieved by the drugs used in modern medicine such as NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). The research found that the Moringa leaves posses substances that have antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activitie; in fact they found that it has high quantities of these substances. This means that Moringa Oleifera use in Indian traditional medicine as a treatment for Arthritis and Gout.

The effects of the Moringa is suppressing the COX-2 enzyme. This enzyme is responsible for inflammation processes and pain. Usually the drugs used to suppress this enzyme are NSAID such as Voltaren, Nksin, Adoil, ARCOXIA, Kaspo etc. The side effects of these products include risk for stroke, kidney problems, blood vessels problems, stomach problems and the list goes on.

Elevated Blood Pressure

Blood pressure tends to rise with age. Following a healthy lifestyle helps some people delay or prevent this rise in blood pressure.  Click here to read more!

Carbs…why are they looked at as bad?

Carbs…why are they looked at as bad?

Thank you Dr. Plant School of Natural Health and Wellness for this info!!!

There are three forms of caloric energy that our body can use: Fats, Proteins, and Carbohydrates.

The body has the ability to convert all three of these forms of caloric energy into the molecule glucose. Glucose is the primary molecule that travels through our blood and can be absorbed into the cells, providing the basic energy source to our cells.

If fats, proteins and carbohydrates can all be converted into glucose why are there so many diets focused on avoiding carbohydrates?

The answer is simple…Though they can all be converted to glucose the rate at which they are converted is tremendously different, and since the rate at which they are converted is dramatically different it has a profound impact on the way our body stores fat.

Glucose is a basic sugar, and our body (outside of those with diabetes) makes sure that the sugar level in our blood is maintained within a specific level. If our blood sugar goes up too high our body will release the hormone insulin, which is like a key that opens up our fat cells, allowing the fat cells to absorb the excess sugar that is floating in our blood. If our blood sugar drops too low it will release the glycogen in our liver to spike up our blood sugar to appropriate levels.

Our body will convert carbohydrates into glucose very quickly. In fact, many of the carbohydrates we eat are converted into glucose before it even hits our stomach. To prove this point simply put a saltine cracker in your mouth and let your saliva dissolve it…It will begin to taste sweet. That is because your saliva is breaking down the carbohydrate into the basic glucose molecule.

So, carbohydrates are quickly converted into glucose. This in turn causes a quick spike in your blood sugar levels, thereby causing an insulin release and then fat accumulation.

Now, let’s look at protein. This can also be converted into glucose, but the body will only do this if its immediate glycogen stores are depleted and fats are in short supply. So if your diet is enriched in protein your blood sugar levels will naturally stay lower compared to a diet rich in carbohydrates.

The moral of this story. Avoid carbs, especially simple carbs. They can easily be converted into fat. Unless of course you are burning that sugar quickly, which is a topic for discussion another day.

Bergamot/Citrus bergamia

Bergamot essential oil is fresh and citrusy with spicy undertones. Its name in Turkish translates to “King of the Pears,” which fits perfectly with the fruit’s pear-shaped peel that is cold pressed to create the oil. Known as one of the most versatile oils in existence, Bergamot has the ability to adapt to the specific needs of the person using it.

Typical Applications
Historically, in Italy, it was used for fevers and digestive tract problems. More recently it has been shown to be effective in treating urinary tract infections, has excellent properties for skin care, and like many citrus oils is calming and therefore helpful with anxiety and depression.
Many find the aroma of this oil pleasing and diffuse it to help with anxiety or depression. Cup and inhale and other inhalation techniques would apply as well.
